What is a "Member Share?
To become a member, an eligible individual must deposit and keep a minimum of $5 in a savings account. This $5 membership deposit represents your share in the ownership of your credit union.

I already belong to another credit union. Can I still join Commonwealth Credit Union?
Yes, you can join Commonwealth Credit Union, too. There's no limit on the number of credit unions you can join and benefit from, as long as you're eligible for each one.

If I'm joining by mail, how do I know when my membership has been opened and what my account number is?
You'll receive by mail your account number, deposit receipt and important information about your account and the many services available to you. Please review the information and contact us with any questions.

Once I join, how long do I have to wait to apply for a loan or credit card?
You can apply for credit at the same time you join. To submit a credit card or loan application with your membership application, complete this loan application.

If I change jobs, retire, or move, do I have to close my credit union membership and stop using credit union services? "
No, you're a member for life as long as you keep your account active and in good standing. Just call or e-mail us if your situation is changing and you need help with the easiest ways to use your credit union wherever you are.

I'm eligible to join Commonwealth Credit Union. Do my family members have to live in my same household to join too?
No, they don't as long as the relative is your spouse, child, grandchild, parent, grandparent, sister or brother, niece or nephew, aunt or uncle, or cousin. In-laws and step-family are also eligible.
